A place for special occasions.
More than it being a dinner it was a great experience. I would say it was good art.
Don't go with the mindset of the usual buffet where you can eat a lot. Here the quantity will definitely be on the lowereer side. But as I said it's an experience.
Personally I thought the food will not be enough but it was actually sufficient.
Overall a memorable experience
We had a 13 course meal, followed by a special anniversary surprise dish. The staff was very cheerful and helpful. I thank all the staff who explained and served the divine vegetarian kimaya dishes for the great experience. It was wonderful experience to see the food art which was so delicious too. A must try experience in Chennai
A lavish culinary experience! Go for it, only if you have a lot of patience and great passion and appetite of Unique Gastronomy adventure. They server only Dinner and we opted for their 13 course menu. The staffs very patiently briefed us on the overall experience and menu. The concept is each dish is served in mini portions but taken so much care to prepare.
I didn't take a note of the names, listing the items in the order we received:
1) Mini Chat - it was a kind of bhel pori served in a paper which was consumable, served on top of mini ammi kal
2) Mini fish starters served with batter deep fried Curry leaves and butter milk mousse. It was server on a super heavy rock. Tasted good, surprisingly the curry leaves were super crunchy and yummy
3) Rasam - was served in a French press container. Surprisingly it was full of flavour and verra level.
4) Fish starter with vathal - all of it was good
5) Prawns with mini neer dosai - was okish
6) Some momos - forgot what it was :-)
7) Chicken and Ghee rava dosa - the dosai was crispy and drenched with Ghee and tasted awesomee
8) Fish in a green sauce
9) Idiyappam with Asparagus & Stew - WHOAH, this was the show stealer, the stew was so rich, creamy and tasty
10) Neer dosai with mutton - I didn't like the mutton smell, felt it was slightly raw
11) Mini coin parotta and chicken gravy - the gravy was once again super creamy and good
12) Mutton soru - I didn't like the taste and flavour of mutton much
13) A mango based desert served with a burning candle and everything was consumable, served with papadam
14) Coconut coffee dessert - wow this was indeed novel! the desert was served as a mini coconut piece and once again all of it was consumable and tasted great!
15) Pan icecream - was okish
If I had any complains - it was on the choice of mocktails, they could have included more drinks (the pineapple drink I ordered was very average).
We were a group of 4 adults and an infant who went here for lunch on a Sunday. At the outset, the staff were extremely friendly and supportive of our little one - even though we had a stroller, they also brought us a high chair for a brief time so we could feed them. They were also supportive of our request for a ~15 min break during the course so we could attend to our baby. The dishes came out at a very reasonable interval giving us enough time to eat but also didn’t have us waiting for too long between the courses.
We had the vegetarian 13 course menu. All the courses were delicious, the staff is very well trained to talk about the dishes, and even suggested ways to eat it. The spicy aubergine, cauliflower crunch, and the drumstick dumpling were stand-out dishes for me and my partner. The amuse bouche and the distilled rasam ( which was refilled several times over the course of the meal) were spectacular also.
Since we mentioned we were celebrating our little one turning 6 months - they also brought us a cake ( made with idlis ! which was absolutely delicious and unbelievable! )
The noise level was moderate since it was only about 50-60% full. Although I can see that it can get noisy and a little cramped at full occupancy.
Would highly recommend this restaurant and it is very reasonably priced in our opinion for the quality of food offered.
It is one of the best restaurants to have an extremely wonderful fine dining experience. The restaurant provide a set menu which is thoughtfully curated, such that it doesn't overpower the pallete and fill the stomach gradually. All the dishes tasted extremely nice, true to their ingredients, especially the yogurt sauce, aubergine, coconut pudding, and tempered bottle guard, presented in an extremely thoughtful and appetising manner. The wait staff were also well trained, inform the dineres about their presented dishes and suggest the way to eat it also. The ambience is also nice with clean and calm atmosphere. Altough the cost of dining is extremely high, the restaurant can be visited once just for the experience of fine-dinning.
